Gary E Brinley was born June 5, 1962, in Greenville, OH. His parents, William and Rosalyn Brinley, still reside outside of Hollansburg, OH. Gary currently lives in Bloomington, IN
with his wife Marilyn and daughter Kelley. His son Kevin and daughter-in-law Chantel live in Fishers, IN with their son Ethan.
Gary graduated from Tri-Village High School and received a certificate of completion from Montgomery County Joint Vocational School in 1980. Gary subsequently received
his Bachelor of Science degree in business with an accounting major from Miami University. Gary began his career working for a local CPA firm in the Dayton, OH, market. In 1986, Gary received his certificate as a certified public accountant. In 1988, Gary moved into banking and worked for Arcanum Federal Savings and Loan Association for 2 ½ years, finishing as their
president. After the sale of Arcanum Federal, Gary went to work for First Ohio Savings Bank in Saint Bernard, OH. After First Ohio Savings Bank was acquired by MBT Bancorp of West Harrison, IN, in 1992, Gary became the chief financial officer for Merchants Bank and Trust Company of West Harrison and Patriot Federal Savings Bank of Saint Bernard, OH. In 1997, Gary went to work for The Peoples State Bank headquartered in Ellettsville, IN. Gary and his
family moved to Bloomington, IN, in 1998.
Gary was raised a Master Mason in 1985 in Fort Black 413 in New Madison, OH and was Worshipful Master there in 1990. After the move to Bloomington, Gary became a plural member of Ellettsville 245 in Ellettsville in 1999.
Gary spent two years as Secretary before becoming the Senior Warden in 2004 and Worshipful Master in 2005. Gary returned to the Secretary position in 2006 and held it through 2022. Gary retains a membership in Ohio at Greenville 143.
Gary was appointed as a Grand Marshal in 2003 by Most Worshipful Brother James L Chesney. He subsequently served on a number of committees and boards, including the Indiana
Masonic Home Foundation, Inc. Gary was appointed to the Grand Lodge Scholarship Board by Most Worshipful Brother Mark A Genung in 2013, serving initially as Vice President and
then as the Treasurer. In 2014, Gary was appointed to the Indiana Masonic Home board by Most Worshipful Brother Dan Barenie.
In 2015, Gary became the Treasurer of the Indiana Masonic Home and assisted in resolving accounting issues as well as in the financing for the construction of the SkiUed Nursing Facility
and Young's Creek Apartments. He most recently served as President of the Board from June 2022 through March 2023.
Gary was appointed Junior Grand Deacon by Most Worshipful Brother Rodney A Mann in 2017, moved through the progressive line, and was elected and installed as the 172nd Grand Master on May 16, 2023.
Gary is a member of the Valley of Indianapolis Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, serving as Thrice Potent Master in 2008-2009. Gary received his 33rd Degree in August 2010 in Philadelphia, PA. Gary served as the Treasurer of the Valley from 2012 to 2018, and then as Trustee from 2018 to 2022. Gary also served the Indiana Council of Deliberation as Treasurer from 2012 through 2022. Gary received the Indiana Council of Deliberation Medal of Honor at the Indiana Council of
Deliberation meeting on June 4, 2022.
Gary is a member of the York Rite Bodies in Bloomington; Bloomington Chapter 127, Bloomington Council 87, and Bloomington Commandery 63 where be currently serves as the
Deputy Master and Commander, respectively, of the Council and Commandery.
Gary holds membership in Murat Shrine Temple in Indianapolis, Stone Belt Shrine Club in Bloomington, St James Conclave of Red Cross of Constantine where he is a Past
Puissant Sovereign, Banks of the Wabash York Rite College, St Bernard De Clair Vaux Council 256 Allied Masonic Degrees, and a lifetime member of the Royal Order of Scotland.
Gary is a member of the Indiana College Societas Rosicruciana In Civitatibus Foederatis. He currently serves as the Secretary General of the High Council. Gary received the
Knight Grand Cross in November 2021 at the High Council's meeting in Louisville, KY.
